In the summer of 1999, in Riverview, Florida, several friends got together and formed an ad-hoc committee to study the merits of forming a new political party in Florida.  Later that year, this committee became The Independence Party of Florida.  At that time it had eightregistered members, Now just over 11 years later, it has over 73000 members

This growth was achieved with no paid advertising, no bank account, no private funding, ...only word of mouth.  It just goes to show that it doesnt not take a lot of money to do what is right,  One of the primary founders of the Independence Party of Florida Peter Allen is running for Governor of our great state, with the same conviction that fueled the creation and growth of this party:  that you can run a winning campaign without breaking the bank or being  influenced by special interests.
